Here's something I thought up this morning: near-magical spaceships with flexible, deformable membranes as their outer shells. As the note indicates, I'm thinking something along the lines of graphene membranes with embedded networks of high-temperature superconducting loops to change shape and become rigid where needed, forming such handy items as landing feet or airlock tubes.

When ASUS EEE Note meets Auguste Rodin

This was done with Asus EEE Note EA800 which has 8 inch gray scale LCD, Linux based system , and Wacom Pen with pressure sensitivity.

Sadly, ASUS didn't continue to advance this product which I though has a lot of potential, and it only costs 230 US Dollars. Current version the hardware was great, but the software support is weak.

I did these drawings from last weekend when I visited Legion of Honor. They have some really good collections in the museum, and I found out Rodin has some of the best composition pieces in this museum.

Strathmore Visual Journals, they have super sturdy covers and come in several varieties of filling. I'm using the smooth bristol version, with pigment liners and Copic markers. I want to make it a super neat little book of drawings to let people flip through, no messy sketches and doodles here.

There is much Chinese folklore which includes songs, and tales, and it tells stories of historical, human nature, events, or love. Here is a story about Daji and King Zhou of Shang in 1047 BC. Daji was a favorite concuibine of King Zho of Shang. She is a classic example of how beauty causes the downfall of an empire/dynasty in Chinese culture. She is portrayed as an evil fox spirit in Chinese novel Fengshen Yanyi which is translated as The Investiture of the Gods or The Creation of the Gods, also known as Fengshen Bang.

This Friday will be my last day at Arena Net. After seven years of Charr, Icons, Poobags, Dragons, delivered lunches, Battlefield Desert Combat grudge matches, 4 shipped games and Kekai's sweet smile, I'll be moving on.

My new gig is going to be at Undead Labs as the art director. Given the fact that I love the zombie genre (and have since 1988, when Curtis Pitt rented Dawn of the Dead for his slumber party) and pitched my first zombie game in 1997, with a slew of other pitches over several years (Three alone at Arena), you'd think this would have been an easy decision. It wasn't.

I went back and forth for a long time. It's selfish, but I wish Arena had fallen apart. I wish the projects became shitty and the people soulless shells that just punched buttons on their keyboards. That way I could walk away from this place with a 'fuck you' and not look back. It didn't. Instead it stayed amazing, and even more wonderful people joined. So now leaving is hard, and it'll takes a few weeks at the new job to fully accept my own decision.

The people here are tremendous, and their talent is unmatched in the MMO world. Having played Guild Wars 2 I can honestly say that the whole fantasy MMO genre is about to have it's teeth knocked out. The only teeth that will be left are the ones that it'll be choking on. Then it will die, and all that will be left is GW2. It's epic. As epic as Greg's overpriced French Dipped sandwiches.

So that's that, it's been a helluva ride.

Kirin is a mythical beast in Chinese culture.
The creature is supposed to be more like horse or deer body with scales and more than two horns but I want it to be more aggressive so I change the body type to be more strong with claw.
It also says the tail is more like bull's tail and can blow fire from the mouth.

Here's something that Doug didn't paint.

I'm thinking the creatures aren't actually blue, but fluoresce brilliantly underneath the glare of their UV-lopsided sunlight, or maybe some exotic magnetospheric interactions with an energetic particle stream from a periodic stellar event result in a UV-emitting atmosphere like the inside of a fluorescent light tube. Or they're just blue, whatever's fun.
